Cherry red bumps

Can quickly and easily remove unsightly Cherry Angiomas

Free skin consultation

Why wait any longer?

If you have one or more Cherry Red Bumps (also known as Cherry Angiomas), you’ll know that they are benign skin growths caused by an abnormal proliferation of blood vessels that appear as a small, smooth, bright cherry-red lump. You may notice that you are getting more of them as you grow older.

Although they don’t pose a threat to your health, we understand that cherry red bumps can be unsightly and make you feel self-conscious about your appearance.

However, if they annoy you there is a treatment option. Using a pulsed dye laser, we can direct enough heat into the source to destroy this benign lesion and leave your skin free of angiomas.

  • Usually completely eliminates cherry red bumps
  • Little or no downtime
  • Offers a safe and effective option for treatment
  • Can improve your complexion with healthier-looking skin

How does it work?

We use a handheld device to pass a laser beam through the surface of your skin to reach the blood vessels in the cherry red bumps. The targeted heat from the laser causes the blood vessels to collapse and later dissolve within the body, eliminating the angioma while safeguarding the neighbouring healthy cells and blood vessels.

What happens during the treatment?

During the procedure, we will give you protective eye shields to wear. A numbing gel is then applied to the areas to be treated. Using a handheld device for correct positioning, the laser is delivered in short bursts to protect your skin. Many people say this treatment is painless but you may feel a slight pinprick sensation, similar to having a hair plucked.

The treatment takes approximately 30-60 minutes.

When will I see results?

Depending on the severity of your individual case, cherry red bumps can usually be completely removed following one treatment. Occasionally, for larger angiomas, you may need two to three treatments but we will discuss this with you at your initial consultation.

How often can I have it done?

We would normally recommend approximately two to four weeks between treatments to give the broken down blood vessels time to absorb and to let us fully assess the outcomes from each treatment.

During your initial consultation, we will carefully analyse your cherry red bumps and outline what we feel will be the best treatment plan for you.

What can I expect immediately after treatment?

Immediately following your treatment, you may experience some bruising, which can take up to a week or ten days to dissipate. The treated tissue of the cherry red bump itself will turn dark and should dry up and fall off within one to two weeks.
